The atmosphere of this album is fantastic. Makes you feel like you're knee-deep in the trenches drenched in mud, filth, sweat, and blood. Truly encapsulates the horrors of World War I, and the fact that the lyrics of some of the songs are taken from old war letters really adds to the authenticity.

Niht consists of two members of Nekrovault - I've been sold instantly. Arcanum starts off with a filthy, snotty sound, evolves and ends in torment and demise. Especially the last two songs are the sonic equivalent of a tortured soul being trapped in a phylactery forevermore and redying its gruesome death time and again. This is an unsettling piece of art, full of anguish. Song titles, themes and musical execution complement each other in a great way. Sucht (Addiction) is a prime example of that. David Fischer
Swirling guitars, furious drums, vocals that at the same time howl from infinite distance and are right up in your head; everything put into dissonant form with the help of unconventional songwriting. This album is my personal key to the icelanding black metal madness that I've ignored for way too long! Lukas Kaufmann
